Objectives:
Provide engineers with the capability to carry out the conceptual design of coastal structures, including standard port defenses (rubble mound and caisson breakwaters) and beach fills for shore erosion control. As such, the basics of wave mechanics and principles of wave climate analysis (short- and long-term statistics) are introduced.
