Double Degree

From the academic year 2023/2024 it is possible to enroll in the training course aimed at the issuance of the double title (Double Degree – DD): Master Degree in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering (class LM-23 – class of Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering) from the University of Naples Federico II and the Master Degree in Civil Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico of Lisbon, in application of the Agreement for the Collaboration for the Award of Double Degrees between the University of Naples Federico II and the Instituto Superior Técnico of Lisbon (Portugal).

The training course will take place in Naples, at the venues of the Polytechnic and Basic Sciences School of the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA), and in Lisbon, at the venues of the Instituto Superior Técnico of Lisbon (IST).

The study program required for the double degree requires the acquisition of 120 credits. The lessons of UNINA courses are in English and/or Italian, and those of Técnico Lisboa are in English. Students will take the first year of the master degree (60 ECTS) at UNINA and the second year (30+30 ECTS) at IST. In particular, in the second year, the student will develop the master thesis at the partner institution (30 ECTS). The thesis must be written in English and submitted to the host institution. The Degree Committee will be composed of professors from both institutions. The individual study plan for the whole duration of the mobility program, including the thesis, must be defined and approved by both institutions. In particular, it should be drawn up based on the manifestos of both STReGA (UNINA) and Civil Engineering (IST) master degrees.

As regards the current academic year, students enrolled in the first year of the Master’s Degree course at UniNa may participate in the selection. Those who will enroll in the same Master’s Degree course no later than December 31 of the first year may also participate, in this case candidates are admitted to the selection with reserve.

Candidates must provide a proof of their knowledge of the English language (at least a B2 level) choosing among the following documentation:

A maximum of 5 (five) students is admitted to attend the course. The selection process takes into account the candidate’s curriculum and the outcome of the individual interview. In particular, will be considered the following:

In the event of tie between two or more candidates, the youngest one will have priority in the ranking. UniNa students will pay the fees to UniNa for enrollment in the MD STReGa, according to the contribution bracket established by UniNa. The University will contribute, if necessary, to partially cover the mobility expenses of UniNa students participating in the Double Degree with an amount equal to the Erasmus+ grant for study mobility. Supplementary funds from MUR, University and/or DiSt, where annually available, may be used to supplement the Erasmus+ grant for study mobility. Chosen candidates must submit, starting from the date of call publication and within the prescribed terms, an application for admission on plain paper and handsigned, addressed to the Director of DiSt.

The call and final exam ranking of the contest will be published on DiSt official website.

At the end of the course, the enrolled students will be awarded the Master’s Degree in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering (class LM-23 UniNa) and Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Técnico Lisboa).
