Last week a delegation from Wenzhou University of Technology (WZUT) visited the Department of Structures for Engineering and Architecture (DiSt) of the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA), within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement signed a few months ago.
The delegation included Vice President Prof. Zheng Hua, Vice Dean of the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture Prof. Xu Xiaojiang, Head of the Department of Architecture Dr. Ying Ziyi, Distinguished Professor Giuseppe Lacidogna, and Dr. Zeng Siwei, lecturer at the Department of Architecture.
The visit was developed within the institutional framework of the School of Polytechnic and Basic Sciences, chaired by Prof. Andrea Prota, and of DiSt, led by Prof. Emidio Nigro, who illustrated the activities and areas of excellence of the Department. It represented an important opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding and discuss concrete perspectives for future cooperation between WZUT and UNINA.
DiSt presented its educational, research and internationalization activities, with contributions from the DiSt delegates, Profs. Giorgio Serino, Gianpiero Lignola, Gaetano Della Corte and Massimiliano Fraldi.
Particular attention was given to the FISA GRETA project – Green bREaThing wAlls for a more sustainable built environment, presented by Prof. Gennaro Magliulo, PI of the project, as a relevant example of advanced research for more sustainable, resilient and energy-efficient solutions for the built environment.
The WZUT delegation introduced the distinctive features of Wenzhou and Wenzhou University of Technology, through an institutional presentation by Vice President Prof. Zheng Hua, followed by a technical presentation by Prof. Giuseppe Lacidogna on topics of common scientific interest.
The delegation visited the Materials and Structures Testing Laboratory, introduced by the Head of the laboratory Prof. Marco Di Ludovico and Dr. Gennaro Maddaloni, with a focus on experimental testing, innovative materials and sustainability, structural assessment and rehabilitation of existing buildings.
The visit continued at the Biomechanics and Micromechanics Laboratory, introduced by the Head of the laboratory Prof. Massimiliano Fraldi, where the delegation had the opportunity to learn more about DiSt interdisciplinary research activities and advanced experimental facilities
Dr. Danilo D’Angela, Contact Person for the Cooperation Agreement, organized the event and coordinated the activities.
The exchange focused on structural rehabilitation, sustainability and urban renewal, addressing key topics such as the protection and adaptive reuse of historical and cultural heritage, structural health monitoring, underground infrastructure design and monitoring, energy consumption management and strategies to enhance the value of existing buildings.
The visit represented a meaningful step toward building mutual trust and identifying common ground for long-term collaboration in education, research, laboratory activities and technology transfer.
