Internships

It is possible to do an Intramoenia internship at University or an Extramoenia internship at a Company.

Intramoenia internship

Students who choose an intramoenia internship have to contact a teacher of their own course in order to ask for his availability as university tutor of the internship.

The student must:

  1. fill in the first two sections of the Intramoenia Training Project with personal information, available on the University portal;
  2. fill in, together with the Tutor, the other sections (duration, objectives and modalities) specifying the expected weekly hours at the computer terminal;
  3. send the training project, signed by student and Tutor, with the certificate of participation in the 4-hour training course, to the Department’s Educational Office for Director’s signature. Once the Director has signed the form, the Educational Office will return it to the student by email.

Extramoenia internship

Students who choose an extramoenia internship have to contact a teacher (as university tutor of the internship) and find a company where to carry out the traineeship.

Two cases can occur:

  1. The Company/Organisation does not have an agreement ruling the training projects (check the available list on the University portal). In this case the Company/Organization, with the advice of the university tutor (who assumes the role of reference proposing teacher), will start the process:
    1. filling in* all the required fields of the Curricular Internship Agreement (Italy, Europe or extra-EU version) available on the University portal;
    2. sending the agreement proposal, duly digitally signed in p7m format and fully completed, to the email address didattica.dist@unina.it of the Department of Structures for Engineering and Architecture. IMPORTANT: Include in the message the name of the professor responsible for the agreement that is the university tutor;
    3. checking the updated list of active agreements on your own and proceed to point B.
  2. The Company/Organization already has a Traineeship Agreement, so the student can proceed compiling the Training Project on the University Collabora platform, clicking on the Student Internships icon.
    Then the student must:
    1. with the assistance of the University Tutor and in consultation with the Company, fill in the project in the sections regarding the host department/unit, the Tutor’s details, and the internship activity schedule (duration, objectives, and methods of implementation), also specifying the expected weekly hours at the workstation;
    2. after completing the training project, send the certificate of participation in the 4-hour course to the Office of Academic Affairs and await approval of the internship by the Office of Academic Affairs and the university tutor;
    3. ask the Company to sign and stamp the Training Plan;
    4. send the Training Plan (signed and stamped by the Company) to the Educational Office.

Internship booklet and AC form

During the internship, the student must write the internship booklet, available on the University portal, indicating day by day the duration and briefly describing the carried out activities.

At the end of the training activites, the booklet must be completed by the supervisor, who provides a brief report and evaluation of the activities, and the student, who provides an overall assessment of the educational experience.

Finally, the student must submit the booklet (signed by both tutors) to the Educational Office along with Form AC, which certifies the earning of the corresponding credits.

Health Security and Surveillance

All students, before starting the internship activities (intramoenia or extramoenia), are required to complete a training course on Workplace Health and Safety as mandated by Legislative Decree No. 81/08 and the State-Regions Agreement of December 21st, 2011.

This program involves participation in a 4-hour asynchronous online course, delivered on the Federica Web Learning platform, covering basic training on workplace health and safety.

To access the course, you must enter the Department’s access code available in the UniNa Training Guide 2026. Upon completion of the training course and passing the final test, the system will issue a Certificate of participation to be sent to the email address didattica.dist@unina.it along with the training project. For any issues regarding the use or availability of the platform, please contact support@federica.eu.

The program also includes an additional training phase for all trainees (both intramoenia and extramoenia) through the Training on Specific Risks – High Risk course. The 12-hour course will be delivered online in a synchronous format by the University Training Office via the Microsoft Teams platform, where classes will be created. To be added to the Teams classes, students must fill out the form, providing the institutional email address.

NOTE: The training course on specific risks is typically held once a month and is open to all University students. Given the high number of requests to participate, students are advised to apply well in advance, as there is a minimum one-month period between the date of the request and the actual date of participation in the course. Course dates will be communicated via email to the student’s institutional email address.

In case of an EXTRAMOENIA internship, the student must also ensure that the departmental tutor and the tutor at the host organization complete the Cooperation and Coordination Agreement. This document formalizes the agreements between the parties to comply with the requirements regarding health and safety in the workplace in accordance with applicable laws. The cooperation and coordination agreement will be signed by the tutors and employers of both organizations and submitted by the student to the email address didattica.dist@unina.it.

Finally, for all students who declare in their training plan that they will spend more than 20 hours per week working at a computer terminal, a medical examination is also required to assess their physical fitness to perform the internship activities. Please note that the waiting times for medical examination appointments are generally long; in fact, a period of at least one month goes by between the receipt of the training plan and the date of the medical examination. It is therefore recommended to submit the training plan well in advance, even before the start of the internship.

Duration of the internship

The internship requires a total commitment of 200 hours (8 ECTS credits) for students enrolled starting in the 2023/2024 academic year, while a commitment of 225 hours (9 ECTS credits) is required for students enrolled in previous years, including (in both cases) 16 hours of training. For international students, however, the internship always requires a commitment of 225 hours (9 ECTS credits).

Take into account that daily activites are allowed for no more than 8 hours. Therefore, the internship lenght must be calculated on this base.
